This week is pretty major in terms of stand-up. Plenty of heavy hitters dropping into town and, of course, some local staple shows. Here’s what you gotta hit…
Judah Friedlander at Relapse. Wed, 4/11 at 8 pm
A longtime stand-up, you probably also know him as TV writer Frank on “30 Rock” and problematic songwriter Gordy on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” Fresh off his critically acclaimed Netflix stand-up special, America is the Greatest County in the United States, Friedlander is going out on tour and stopping by Atlanta for one night only (and if you’re near Athens, he’ll be at the 40 Watt this Tuesday). More info.
Kathleen Madigan at Buckhead Theatre. Fri, 4/13 & Sat, 4/14
You have two chances to see the very funny Kathleen Madigan in Buckhead this week. The veteran has about done it all: multiple comedy albums, multiple late night appearance, multiple stand-up specials, and so on. Go see an absolute pro. More info.
Michael Rowland at Relapse. Sat., 4/14 at 8 pm
A good comedy scene is all about helping locals grow. Supporting your local scene means giving opportunities to feature and headline. Michael Rowland is one of ATL’s greatest and Relapse is giving him the opportunity to headline. Hell yeah. Here’s to giving more the same. More info.
7 Minutes in Wild Heaven at Wild Heaven Beer. Thurs., 4/12 at 7 pm
The weather is a fickle little shit, but Thursday looking to be nice, sunny, and warm. ATL is filthy with breweries and comedy, so combine those two babies at Wild Heaven’s monthly comedy night. I recommend the Emergency Drinking Beer. More info.
Of course, there’s plenty of other shows going on. Find more at atlantacomedy.tumblr.com.
