Good morning! I’m sure most of you are just now waking up, or maybe that’s just me. I’ve had my coffee and ready to binge watch something on Netflix, do laundry and eat waffles until I pass out. Let’s get right into it, here’s your hand-picked list of nerdy events to check out this week. If you know of any events that I should mention, please hit me up NerdLanta@gmail.com.

Joystick Gamebar (427 Edgewood Ave SE) at 7pm
Dream of being a daring adventurer in kick-ass magical realms? Wish you were an elf wizard or a brawny but soft-hearted half-orc? Then break out your dice and character sheets because Joystick is playing the world’s greatest role-playing game – Dungeons & Dragons – every Monday and Tuesday night.
New and inexperienced players are welcome. The organizer and seasoned dungeon masters can teach you how to play, help you make a new 5th edition character, and find you a spot in an ongoing game or a pick-up one-shot session. While also drinking, probably.
Terminal West (887 W Marietta St NW) at 6pm
50 featured artists gather at Terminal West and create work live. Work is framed and goes up for sale via a silent auction as artists finish. The sold artwork is taken by collectors at the end of the event. Live music + entertainment.
Diesel Filling Station (870 N. Highland Ave) at 8pm
Head out to Diesel Filling Station in the Virginia Highlands for some Tuesday night nerd trivia. Test your nerdy knowledge each week, and win some sweet prizes. Hosted by: Booze Clues Trivia. Enjoy Nerd Trivia every Tuesday night at Diesel Filling Station.
The Bakery Atlanta (825 Warner St) from 9 pm-midnight
The Sad Flamingo Tiki Bar and Lounge return on May 31st with your host Daniel Eberlein, tiki shaker Severiana G. Iocovozzi, and very special guest Michael Myerz! Hopefully, I can make it out to this event. Michael Myerz is an amazing local artist and you really gotta see this guy perform.
Battle & Brew (5920 Roswell Rd, Ste A-120, Sandy Springs) at 8pm
Come thru and do what you do! B&B is kicking off Pride Month with a party night for you. Come out for the great music, drinks, and atmosphere. Want to dress up? Go for it. Want to cosplay? That’s good too. Shoes and shirts are still legally required tho.
The Drunken Unicorn (736 Ponce de Leon Ave NE) at 9:30pm
I’m a pretty big fan of these groups and can’t wait for this show. Synthwave, Dreamwave, whatever this genre of music is being called. I just refer to it as Grand Theft Auto Vice City music. Anyway, here’s the line-up: Timecop1983, ÆON RINGS, Korine Vampire Step-Dad.
Joystick Gamebar (427 Edgewood Ave SE) from 12pm-3pm
Bring the kids on June 2nd, from Noon – 3 PM for a block of your favorite old-school Saturday morning programming. Enjoy great food, Bloody Mary’s and Mimosa’s as they put some favorite classic games on Free Play and show some of the classic toons we all grew up watching.
Plaza Atlanta (1049 Ponce de Leon Ave NE) from 9:30pm-11:30pm
Blast-Off Burlesque is bringing back the popular TABOOLALA series to Plaza Atlanta! For this show, they are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Original Planet of the Apes! Yes, it’s true the movie that begun the franchise that asks; who is superior, MAN or APE?? Still weirdly relevant watch the *LIVE STAGE SHOW* followed by a screening on the Plaza’s BIG, BEAUTIFUL SCREEN! Come party with them in the lobby, get cocktails and celebrate 50 years of Monkey business!
Battle & Brew (5920 Roswell Rd, Ste A-120, Sandy Springs)
Every first Sunday at Battle & Brew! Grab your sketchbook and some glitter glue and get your drink on. Join your host Artetak for an evening of hanging out and meeting other local artists! Use this as an opportunity to network, make new friends, and DRAW! Not an artist and you want to participate? They have plenty of art supplies and coloring sheets available so you can impress your friends with how well you colored inside the lines.
