Hopefully you had a more productive night, and if so I don’t care to hear you brag about it. Lot’s of fun shit to do this week, so let’s get right to it.
Monday Night Magic at The Bookhouse Pub – Mon, 03/13 at 7pm
Come check out Monday Night Magic at The Bookhouse Pub. It’s casual, open format play where all are welcome. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played in years, a veteran or want to start… all are welcome. Bring some cards (or they have extra decks) just remember this is not competitive tournament style play. It’s friendly pick up games in any format and a night meant to bring in new players.
ASF 2017 Launch with Captain Mark Kelly – Tues, 03/14 at 5:30pm
The 2017 Atlanta Science Festival is pleased to host astronaut Captain Mark Kelly. He’s spent more than 50 days in space, and now he’s spending an evening at the ASF. Captain Kelly will share with you what it’s like to leave planet Earth and his insider perspective on the groundbreaking yearlong NASA experiment with his twin brother on how space affects the human body. Captain Kelly will speak at 7pm, but you are welcome you to come early at 5:30pm to launch some rockets on the lawn of Emory’s Glenn Memorial Church. Also, stick around afterwards for a book signing organized by Little Shop of Stories! Captain Kelly will be signing his Mousetronaut and Astrotwins books.
Atlanta Science Festival – Tues, 03/14 – 3/25
The Atlanta Science Festival is a week-long celebration of local science and technology. Every spring, Atlanta residents of all ages will have the opportunity to explore the science and technology in our region and see how science is connected to all parts of our lives. Scientists and educators from local schools, museums and companies will uncover mysteries and explain discoveries in a range of hands-on activities, facility tours, stimulating presentations, and riveting performances to expand our community of science enthusiasts and inspire a new generation of curious thinkers.
Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience at Philips Arena – Tues, 03/14 at 8pm
This sounds pretty damn awesome! Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience featuring Ramin Djawadi. The event page didn’t leave much of a description, but I don’t think you really need one. If you love Game of Thrones, then you already know what to do here. I suggest that you buy your tickets soon!
Robotics and Machine Learning at Freeside Atlanta – Wed, 3/15 at 6:30pm
Wanna be the next Tony Stark? Come out to this event and learn how to build robots! They talk about cool shit going on with robotics and also work on group robotics projects. Great discussions take place like the future of AI, robot cars, and how to approach defining the laws of robotics precisely in software. Learn how to build a robot that can grab you a beer, and feed you burgers.
8-Bit Comedy Night at Joystick Gamebar – Wed, 3/15 at 8pm
First and Third Wednesday of every month at Joystick Gamebar. Named one of 5 Cool Things to Discover in Atlanta by Rolling Stone Magazine. Each show features eight of the highest-ranked comics from all over the globe. No newbs on this show. Science of Brewing Happy Hour at Sweetwater Brewery – Thurs, 3/16 at 5:30pm

Project Cosplay: Power Rangers at Joystick Gamebar – Thurs, 3/16 at 9pm
I’d like to think of this event as the twisted version of Project Runway. If you need to get your DragonCon fix, come check out this great show. Each month Candace Weslosky from Lips Down On Dixie leads teams of designers, models, judges, and the audience through a comedic Project Runway spoof design challenge. I’ve seen celebrity guest judges attend this show from time to time. It’s definitely worth stopping by to see who might show up. The design theme for this Month is: Power Rangers.
The Tipsy Zone at Highwire Comedy – Fri, 3/17 at 10pm
The Tipsy Zone is a fully improvised, never before seen episode of the cult classic TV show The Twilight Zone inspired by a single audience suggestion. Watch as skilled improvisers bring to life the surreal and science fiction but with a twist: our performers get more and more tipsy as the show goes on. Space Mission at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta – Sat, 3/18 at 10am
LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Atlanta reaches new altitudes of fun with the debut of Space Mission this March. Atlanta’s leading family attraction announces limited-time exhibit set to take families on an intergalactic adventure.
Space Mission is an intergalactic building experience where guests explore alien worlds built entirely out of LEGO® bricks. Visitors will be able to build their own spaceship, explore the mission control center and watch a LEGO® rocket blast off into outer space! This is a two day event that goes on from March 18th at 10am – March 19th at 7pm.
Movie Night: The Princess Bride at The Space – Sat, 3/18 at 8pm
Movie Night is a NEW performance event at THE SPACE! Each Movie Night will have a theme geared towards the film that’s being shown. Four musical acts will be shown live in a relaxed setting at The Space followed by the screening of a great movie! For this event they are showing The Princess Bride! Fun fact, this is the movie’s 30 year anniversary! It’s a casual atmosphere, so think “drive-in.” They are asking folks to bring in there favorite lawn chair or pillow to sit or recline on.
