Let’s keep eating! 5/20 – 5/27!

free Day

Krog Street Market

As usual guys, get over to Hop City at KSM and get down on some FREE Wine! This week they will be featuring some amazing wine from Spain! Spanish wine is some of my favorite stuff, the country has a wealth of incredible wine regions and a wide range of grape varietals. You can find beautiful acidic structure and tension in the whites and lush, fruit-forward, round tannins in the reds, and everything in between!

This used to be one of my favorite secrets in the city but gladly, people have caught wind of all of the charm and culinary prowess residing in this quaint and unsuspecting little spot. This guys are always kicking around great ideas and have always impressed with their firm grip on seasonality and fresh menu rotations. Because of this wonderful and exciting trend of fresh seasonal menus you will need to call or text for the evenings menu selection! If they have the Shakshuka on, do yourself a fav and grab it! its one of those simple bread and sauce type dishes that make you just love the span of cultural influence and the flavor of “good home-cooking” in one dish!

Krog Street Market

More on the FREE Tasting front, back at Hop City for their featured brewery this week, Moody Tongue! These guys are out of Chicago and do a phenomenal job with flavors and styles! Ive yet to find a Moody tongue brew I didn’t like. Go try them and see for yourself.

A night enjoying some good old southern cooking is always one of my favorite things, and Kevin Gillespies Revival in Decatur doesn’t disappoint. Kevin’s menu focuses on an elevated form of simpler fare, things like mac and cheese and fried chicken make their way on to the menu and still manage to become fast favorites no matter how many different recipes you’ve tried or who’s mom made it best! This is a place where you’re going to want to leave room for some dessert, the cakes are delicious here, count me in for a slice of red velvet from Revival any day!

Mi Barrio guys! It had been a while since I had been and I stopped in the other day and found that the best things never change! This little family run Mexican Restaurant is such a gem, with wonderful enchiladas, burritos and tacos all lovingly prepared by a strong and knowledgable matriarchy. These ladies work hard to bring the best flavor to such simple things, like pork carnitas with delicious salsa picos or the sinfully sweet horchata here, which is one of the best ways to cool off in the coming summer months! Yo te quiero mucho Mi barrio!

When I want a great beer selection and easy eating pub grub, many a time, I have found myself here at Augustine’s. This place hits the spot when you’re in mood for something not quite sports bar, not quite dive bar, but everything great about both. This is a great place to start your Saturday pre-game, grab a pretzel or a hot dog, and cold pint of something craft and settle in Saturday!

Lets wrap up the week with some dumplings and noodles! As most things on Buford Highway, this place is tucked in to a strip mall shopping center and is a bit tricky to find, still sporting the old sign from the previous business (Golden China). Once you sit down you’ll notice the menu is a simple take out menu that seems very plain and you may be a bit confused but if you ask about the food that is pictured on the wall and order anything under the hilariously named “Healthy Food” section of the menu, you will be pleasantly surprised. These guys have some delicious soup dumplings and wonderful steamed pork dumplings, ask about everything and order as much as you can!
