Comedy Highlights: March 20-26

Atlanta has one of the best damn comedy scenes in the country. If you’re looking to laugh (and you better, damn it!), check out one of these shows.

1. 85 South Live at Smith’s Olde Bar – Wed, 3/22 at 7pm

Atlanta’s favorite podcast is putting on another stellar live show at Smith’s this week. Join Clayton English (“Last Comic Standing” champ), Karlous Miller (“LCS,” “Wild ‘N Out”), and DC Young Fly (“Wild ‘N Out”), for comedy, roasts, freestyle, special guests and more this Wednesday night. Don’t wait for the episode to drop to wish you came.

2. Modugno & Mallory Present at Highland Ballroom – Wed, 3/22 at 9pm

From the folks that brought you Debate ATL and Scene/Song Missing respectively comes a brand new show, Modugno & Mallory Present pvppyacittsotbwtymfii! The longer name is “Please Vice President Pence, You Are Cordially Invited to This Screening of “The Birdcage,” We Think You May Find It VERY Illuminating!” It’s a new comedy talk show you’re probably gonna have to see for yourself. Who knows, maybe ole VP Mike “calls his wife ‘Mother'” Pence will be there? Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Doors open at 8pm.

3. Chris Porter at Punchline – Thurs thru Sat

If you don’t mind Buckhead, go see the very funny Chris Porter this weekend at The Punchline. Porter is a former “Last Comic Standing” finalist, has a Comedy Central Presents, and his latest special, Ugly and Angry, is now on Netflix. It’s pretty great. You have six chances to see him this week.

4. WonderComedy Presents Dave Ross at Cabbagetown Community Center – Fri, 3/24 at 9pm

A WonderComedy fave is back in town and we’re quite thrilled. Ole Dave Ross is back to headline WC at it’s new location, the Cabbagetown Community Center. A mixture of delightfully dumb and profoundly smart material, Ross has performed on Comedy Central’s “This is Not Happening” and “Drunk History” and was recently named a “Comic to Watch”  by Time Out Los Angeles. We recommend you watch him too. He’ll be joined on stage by LA’s Aubrey Jacobowitz and ATL’s Jeffrey Stephenson, Cherith Fuller, and Andrew Michael. Doors open at 8:30pm. $5/BYOB
