Atlanta has one of the best damn comedy scenes in the country. If you’re looking to laugh (I mean, who isn’t? Tell me, TELL ME!), check out one of these shows.
1. Beer and Comedy at Sweetwater Brewery – Mon, 4/10 at 8pm
This isn’t your regular B&C show, it’s the 6 year anniversary! For six years, ole Joe Pettis and crew have been slinging jokes at Atlanta’s biggest brewery. Come to Sweetwater tonight for a special celebration that includes six of the show’s favorite comics. As always, admission comes with a pint glass, beer, and a tour. Doors open at 7pm. $12
2. Urban Tree Comedy at Urban Tree Cidery – Fri, 4/14 at 7:30pm
Atlanta has a bajillion brewerys, but only one cidery. It was only a matter of time before comics swooped in. AtlToDo’s own Ian Aber hosts this new showcase with a crop of the A’s best, like Andrew Michael and Paige Bowman. Sample some homegrown cider while you laugh through the night. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
3. Roast of Lady Gaga at Highland Ballroom – Fri, 4/14 at 9pm
I got a million reasons why you should go out Friday night: one is because that’s when the Roast of Lady Gaga is going down (“Million Reasons” is a Lady Gaga song, so that sentence is both clever as all hell and hilarious and I’m a genius, clearly). Comedians will cosplay as some of your favorite musicians as they playfully rib one of the greatest pop stars working today and the only good memory from the Super Bowl (goddamn it). Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door.
4. Fourth and Five at Relapse – Fri, 4/14 at 10:30pm
New time, new place. The fellas from the sports/comedy podcast, Fourth and Ten, are taking their live show to the Relapse Theatre. See David Perdue, Nathan Owens, and Damon Sumner dish out some of their podcast segments while hosting some of their stand-up friends, including Mia Jackson, Kevin Saucier, and myself (hey!).
5. All-Star Rotknee Comedy & Variety Show at Star Bar – Sat, 4/15 at 9pm
Mondays are the best night of the week thank’s to Rotknee Presents at Star Bar. The longest-running (and arguably the best) stand-up show in Atlanta wouldn’t be what it is without host Rodney Leete and now he could use our help with a few medical expenses. Comedy is coming to Star Bar on Saturday night with a comedy roast and variety show featuring Jim Stacey, Paul Gallois and more jokesters plus raffle prizes and music from Night Terrors Black Cat Rising, Paralyzer, and Captain & Maybelle. Doors open at 8pm, tickets are $10. Come put your dickskinners together and laugh and drink and pay it forward.
