I’m seeing double vision this week in our list of Nerdy South events. There’s so much going on that I had no choice but to mention two events for every night of the week. I’ll be at Joystick Gamebar for 8-Bit Comedy Night this Wednesday, you should come out for that, it’s always a free show and I’ll play 8-bit covers of pop songs from the 80’s. Thursday is 420, so you’ll have that going for you too.
Street Fighter V at Joystick Gamebar – Mon, 4/17 at 7:00pm
Here’s an opportunity for anybody who loves Street Fighter to represent Joystick in an amateur tournament at Turner Studios. Their weekly tournaments begin on April 7th and run on Friday nights from 7:30 to 10pm. Joystick will be hosting a mini-tournament for Street Fight V on April 17th to see who will receive the honor of playing for them in one or possibly more of the tournaments at Turner! Sign-ups start at 7pm and the games begin at 8pm.
Doctor Who Series 10 Premiere at Regal Cinemas Hollywood 24 – Mon, 4/17 at 6:30pm
Join WHOlanta at the Regal Hollywood 24 for the big-screen premiere of Series 10 of Doctor Who, featuring the return of the Twelfth Doctor and Nardole plus the debut of Pearl Mackie as Bill! They will have a trivia contest and some giveaways. The show starts at 7:00 but trivia is kicking off at 6:30, so come early! Feel free to come dressed up in costume, but please remember that no masks are allowed.

Geek Trivia at Battle & Brew – Wed, 4/19 at 8pm
Geek Trivia features trivia categories like “Star Wars” “Science” “Sex” & other nerdy topics, while leaving out the “Sports” category of course. They do Geek Trivia EVERY Wednesday at 8pm! Make reservations ahead of time to be guaranteed a seat! Speaking of which, seating for Geek Trivia can be reserved ahead of time via our Open Table online reservation system. Teams are limited to a party of 8. If you have more than 8 you will have to split into multiple teams.
Project Cosplay: Guardians of The Galaxy 2 – Thurs, 4/20 at 9pm
I’d like to think of this event as the twisted version of Project Runway. Each month Candace Weslosky from Lips Down On Dixie leads teams of designers, models, judges, and the audience through a comedic Project Runway spoof design challenge. I’ve seen celebrity guest judges attend this show from time to time. It’s definitely worth stopping by to see who might show up, plus they hook you up with some really cool free swag. The design theme for this Month is: Guardians of The Galaxy 2!
Almost Android – Improv comedy at The Basement Theatre – Thurs, 4/20 at 8pm
Born out of The Basement from random parts, this comedy machine will thrill you and possibly save the galaxy!

NerdLanta is showcasing 40 minutes of local short films at Joystick Gamebar right before NerdLanta LIVE! on the 2nd & 4th Sunday of every month at 6:30pm. Film writer & producer Jonothon Mitchell, who is also the co-host of Adult Swim’s Stupid Morning Bullshit is your curator for these events. Expect to see some amazing Home Brewed Short Films while you enjoy delicious local beers from the bar. In addition to the variety of short films that will be screened, they will also have a featured film that includes a special Q&A with the directors.
