There’s so much happening this week! I say that every week, but I think it’s especially true with this particular list of events that I’ve hand-picked for you. The Book of Mormon is back at the Fox Theatre all week long and kicks off on Tuesday. Black Nerd at Dad’s Garage is going to be amazing. That’s running from Thursday-Sunday this week, so make sure to get your tickets.

City Winery Atlanta (650 North Avenue NE) 6:30pm-9pm
Truffle shuffle your way over to City Winery to catch a FREE screening of The Goonies on a giant projector screen! Set in Astoria, Oregon, they’ll have Oregon wine specials as a tribute to where the magic of the film unfolded!
Joystick Gamebar (427 Edgewood Ave SE) at 7pm
I’ll be talking to the guys who run this event on NerdLanta Live this coming Sunday at Joystick, so mark that in the calendars. Dungeons and Dragons seems to have become bigger than ever before with lot’s of new people playing. So, it’s great to have this event every Monday and Tuesday at your friendly neighborhood barcade. New and inexperienced players are welcome. The organizer and seasoned dungeon masters can teach you how to play, help you make a new 5th edition character, and find you a spot in an ongoing game or a pick-up one-shot session. While also drinking, probably.
The Deep End (621 North Avenue NE) from 9pm-1am
You are walking into a house party every Monday night when ControlleRISE is at The Deep End. Live Lofi hip-hop sets from their DJ’s, Anime on the projectors and monitors, a huge assortment of video games and consoles on free play. Plus, let’s not forget about the specials like $2 Tacos, $2.50 PBR tall boys. This is an awesome way to start your week, so go check it out.
The Fox Theatre (660 Peachtree St NE) 7:30pm
The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy about two young Mormon missionaries who travel to Uganda to preach the Mormon religion. First staged in 2011, the play mocks various Mormon beliefs and practices. The script, lyrics, and music were written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone were best known for creating the animated comedy South Park; Lopez had co-written the music for the musical Avenue Q. This play runs from July 17th-July 22nd at The Fox Theatre.
Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop (924 Garrett Street) from 5:30-9pm
Join Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop as they unplug for monthly game night series every 3rd Tuesday of the month at Ponce City Market. They have a free library of games to play with or you can bring your own. The Tap on Ponce will be providing a discount for brew purchased during game night! Attendees that purchase games during the event at Rhen’s Nest will also enjoy a discount. It’s a win-win! Weekly Games will be running game night with Rhen’s Nest Toyshop.

Come out and share a beer with some brainy folks for a session of “Beers and Brains” at New Realm Brewing! Beers and Brains is an exploratory series of talks + Q&As where artisans, activists, makers, doers, and thinkers from all sorts of backgrounds to talk about their passion projects. This is the first-ever Monday Night movie series event, showing every third Thursday at the Garage. Make your way over to Plaza Theater for Atlanta’s premiere Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday at Midnight. Lips Down On Dixie brings you one hell of a show featuring Atlanta’s longest running shadow cast. It’s an awesome way to spend your Friday night. Come to watch this cult classic film with a whole bunch of fun loving people.
Oakland Cemetery (437-C Memorial Dr. SE) at 8:30pm
I once drank a pint of vodka and was visited by the spirit of Jim Morrison. He told me the west was the best and I was like whatever dude you are dead, go away now. If you like ghost and alcohol then this might be the thing for you. Walk along the border of Oakland Cemetery and visit local pubs haunted by both the living and the dead. Your haunted guide will tell you stories about the founding of the city, the fiery history in it’s past and the chilling stories that left a few spirits unable to leave the city of Atlanta.
